Community Pharmacy Program
The Community Pharmacy Program encompasses the pharmacy professions involvement with the Opioid Substitution Treatment in South Australia. The primary aim of the Community Pharmacy Program is to maintain and expand community pharmacy involvement with these health services. The Community Pharmacy Program has initiated a number of innovative services and resources for pharmacies in the state.
Pharmacists are encouraged to update knowledge with regard to the harm minimisation services offered at pharmacies. The Program provides training to pharmacists, interns pharmacists and others in the pharmacy industry about the Opioid Substitution Treatment Program. In appreciation that access to training services may be difficult for pharmacists outside of Adelaide, training can be arranged at a requested rural location in SA.
The Community Pharmacy Program also produces a newsletter specifically for South Australian pharmacists to provide information and updates on the involvement of pharmacies with the Opioid Substitution Treatment Program.
Other resources are available for pharmacists on the links below, as well as the option of electronic reporting of incidents to the Drugs of Dependence Unit.
