 Aboriginal Connection Program (ACP)

 

This is a dedicated alcohol and other drug treatment service for Aboriginal people within the inner city and metropolitan areas of Adelaide. ACP provides services to clients that frequent Byron Place Community Centre and Hutt Street Centre. ACP also takes referrals from other inner city and metropolitan community agencies and directly from Aboriginal people seeking access to ACP support
and services.

 

This program of assertive outreach and integrated assessment and case work will accept clients who meet the following criteria:

  • are Aboriginal
  • experiencing alcohol and/or other drug related issues
  • homeless or at risk of homelessness

 

The program develops service pathways for Aboriginal people that are culturally appropriate and kinship centred with a range of integrated health/welfare/housing initiatives that include:

  • Alcohol and/or other drug treatment options
  • Referral and access to other relevant services
  • Accommodation assistance

 

The ACP operates from Monday to Friday from 8am to 4pm.

 Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara Lands (APY Lands) Substance Misuse Service

The APY Lands Substance Misuse Service provides a range of treatment programs for Anangu who live or come from the APY Lands who are experiencing problems caused by substance misuse. The service provides assessment and treatment for people who misuse petrol, alcohol, cannabis and other substances in the APY Lands.

The program model is based on evidence of what has worked elsewhere in other drug and alcohol programs, particularly in Aboriginal populations.

 Day Centre - Ceduna

The Ceduna Day Centre provides free confidential treatment, counselling and referral services for individuals and families, concerned about drug and alcohol problems.

The centre also offers amenities including towels, toiletries, meals, an opportunity to wash, clothes washing facilties and clothes storage.

Clients can visit the centre to access services or be referred by family members or other agencies such as health, legal and accomodation services.

 Day Centre - Port Augusta

(Young Street Centre)

This service provides a range of treatment and non residential diversionary programs to Aboriginal people who live or come from the outlying areas of Pt Augusta that are experiencing problems caused by substance misuse. The substance misuse service provides treatment and rehabilitation referrals for people who misuse petrol, alcohol, cannabis and other substances.
